A 10 year old, Minnesota-based S corporation, Smart Data Solutions provides health care payers and networks with front-end claims processing services and EDI solutions for medical claims processing.

Mission Statement

At SDS, our mission is to make the health care market more efficient by leveraging technology to provide effective, high-quality claims processing solutions. Along the way, we are committed to providing an unparalleled level of customization, which we feel is imperative in our changing market. Finally, we place great value on providing personalized service. We bring a comprehensive set of tools and processes to every opportunity, which we carefully configure to the individual needs of each customer.

SDS has been managing healthcare claims transactions for over 11 years. Our services have helped more than 140 health care payers, providers and networks across the United States reduce costs, decrease turn-around time, improve payment accuracy, and increase process capability and control. We achieve these benefits by leveraging our IT and claims expertise – specifically, by streamlining and automating client transaction management.

History

We were founded ten years ago in St. Paul Minnesota. Since then, we have experienced nearly 35 consecutive quarters of growth. Our customer base includes both large and small organizations.

Future

Our long-term philosophy is to continue to reinvest in the company, to expand the depth and breadth of our service offerings, and to assure our clients continued efficiencies regardless of the changes taking place in our market.

HIPAA Compliant

We maintain HIPAA compliance with regard to security standards, technical standards, and privacy. As business associates, we maintain strict adherence to HIPAA privacy standards. With regard to technical standards, we have certified our 837 transaction with both ClarEDI and HIPAADESK.

Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI)

WEDI was established in 1991 in response to the challenge to bring together a consortium of leaders within the healthcare industry to identify practical strategies for reducing administrative costs in healthcare through the implementation of EDI. WEDI quickly became a major advocate in promoting the acceptance and implementation of the standardization of administrative and financial health care data and helped secure passage of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in 1996. Today, WEDI's membership includes providers, health plans, consumers, vendors, government organizations, and standards groups committed to the implementation of electronic commerce in healthcare and EDI standards for the healthcare industry.

The Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12, chartered by the American National Standards Institute in 1979, develops electronic data interchange (EDI) standards and related documents for national and global markets.
